This is a hour per week relief/support position. Educators must be available to work between 7am and 5:45pm. We currently rotate shifts every 2 weeks.
The wage listed includes the Alberta Government Wage Enhancement for Alberta Certified Early Childhood Educators.
The EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR is responsible for:

Duties:_
- Plan, supervise and implement the program for the children/room assignment in accordance with WELC philosophy, policies, and procedures.
- To stay current with research and emerging best practices in health and safety as recommended by licensing and health authorities.
- Participate in recommending training programs, conferences, courses and other areas of professional growth.
- Be responsible for the orderly arrangement, appearance, décor, and learning environment of the rooms and play stations.
- Attend all staff meetings
- Supervise the environment for safety and health of the children
- Treat children with dignity and respect.
- Gear the program to meet the needs of the individual children with concerns for their interests and aptitudes.
- Facilitate growth in all areas of development social, physical, intellectual, creative, and emotional.
- Assume staff housekeeping responsibilities
- Plan and implement methods for effective utilizing the services of the classroom team members
- Plan and implement methods of establishing a positive liaison with parents of the children in the center
- Incorporate family's lives, diverse backgrounds and culture into the environment and planning.
- Participate in parent meetings with Director when necessary
- Prepare and update child's memory books ,all ongoing forms for evaluation and progress reports of each child's development
- Maintaining a professional attitude and respect for WELC at all times
- Assist in celebrations and events held by WELC
- Any other duty deemed appropriate by Director and/or Owner
Daily tasks to be completed:_
- To stay current with research and emerging best practices in health and safety as recommended by licensing and health authorities.
- Provide written documentation about incident/accidents to the parents as appropriate prior to completion of shift
- Ensure that all toys and equipment used by the children are disinfected regularly and complete assigned housekeeping duties
- Ensure all policies and procedures are followed in accordance with the Daycare Licensing Manual
- Ensure that children who are bring own food are being provided with proper nutrition in accordance to licensing requirements and Canada's Food Guide
- Be aware of all allergies and serious medical conditions of children in the facility
- Administer medications as signed in and as per Daycare Licensing Regulations
- Develop positive, trusting relationships with children in care
- Develop positive relationships with parents by communicating with them on a regular basis.
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate programming for the children in their care and submit this program planning to the Director for approval
- Ensure that indoor and outdoor play environments are safe and clean
- To ensure children have scheduled daily opportunities for outdoor play in a safe, stimulating and developmentally appropriate environment.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times related to the information regarding staff and clients involved with WELC.
- Maintaining a professional attitude and respect for WELC at all times
- Continually evaluate program and make any necessary changes
- Sign in and out daily, recording any hours not spent in direct childcare
- When opening complete duties on opening checklist and safety checklist. When closing complete all duties on closing checklist.
- To role model good behavior for children in the Center
- Perform all duties as requested by WELC
Monthly tasks to be completed:_
- Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing fieldtrips and/or special events
- Encourage and give families opportunities to participate in the program
- Assist in the room arrangement and toy rotation
Yearly tasks to be completed:_
- To complete selfevaluation as part of staffs yearly evaluation
- To Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing fieldtrips and/or special events
Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent
Salary:
$17.64-$24.62 per hour

Experience:
- Childcare: 1 year (required)
Licence/Certification:
- Alberta Child Care Certification: Level 2 or 3 (required)
- First Aid Certification (required)
- Criminal Record Check (required)
