Gear brings innovative and flexible services and equipment to the Greater Toronto and Vancouver areas and is also home of Mecalac equipment.

We offer rental, sales, and service of this new versatile line of excavators, loaders, dumpers, and compactors, including specialized rail-based equipment.


We are looking for a Health & Safety Coordinator who will be tasked with helping to build out and further develop our Health & Safety program and our overall safety culture.

This is a great opportunity for a new Health and Safety professional to build and expand their knowledge in a practical setting day-to-day while supporting our fleet of trucks in two (2) locations (Bradford, ON and Surrey, BC).

In this role, you will be working closely with the President and Operations leadership to:

  • Carry out inspections of workplaces/jobsite to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, health and safety policies and programs;
  • Make recommendations and develop corrective actions with the project team for noncompliances and ensure followup for reporting to management;
  • Investigate and assist in responding to health and safety incidents and assist in completing investigations, reporting and corrective actions.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of health and safety policies, practices and procedures.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of employee's orientations and training programs.
  • Assists in the preparation of reports, documents and forms as required by the health and safety program.
  • Assist in carrying out performance audits
  • Assist in managing Return-ToWork programs
  • Complete additional assignments and responsibilities as requested by Health and Safety Manager or Senior Management
  • Take minutes of meetings as required and distribute them appropriately.
  • Organize and coordinate workshops and training events as directed by the President.
  • Behave in a manner that reflects Gear's core values and is consistent with the models of a health and safetyfocused culture.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and regulations related to workplace safety
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, diploma or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field
  • 12 years of proven experience as a Safety Coordinator or similar role. Experience in a construction or constructionrelated environment is preferred.
  • Current certification in first aid & CPR
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop and deliver effective safety training programs
  • Demonstrated ability to research and identify best practices, including potential impacts from legislative or industryrelated changes.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills for conducting inspections and investigations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Salary:
$50,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
