We are presently seeking a
Financial Controller to join our remarkable team.

The Financial Controller is responsible for all aspects of accounting and finance under the direction of the President including:

  • Financial and legal compliance
  • Internal and external reporting
  • Adequate governance
  • Risk management
This role also involves administrative activities including Contract Review & Management and Facilities Management Oversight.

Confidentiality and discretion are imperative, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).

This full-time position currently has two direct reports and resides on-site.


Responsibilities
1) Manage and execute finance and administrative functions including:

  • Accounting / bookkeeping
  • Financial analysis
  • Banking facilities, reporting and compliance
  • External financial reporting as required
  • Oversight of finances of interrelated holding companies
  • Liaise with external accountants and legal counsel
  • Facilities management oversight

2) Proactively manage corporate risk including:

  • Cash management
  • Manage foreign currency exposure
  • Manage credit exposure / risk
  • Corporate and Credit Insurance
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Contract Management
3) Identify and implement improvements to business functions, infrastructure and facilities

4) Internal reporting to support decision-making at all levels of the company

5) Manage Finance & Administrative staff including performance monitoring and feedback, tools, training, and optimal staffing levels and hiring

6) Accounting and administrative support to other areas of the company

7) Any and all other functions as may be prudent or required to adequately discharge the mandate of the position


Qualifications & Experience

  • 5 years of related experience
  • Postsecondary degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Experience in Manufacturing an asset
  • An indepth understanding of accounting and bookkeeping procedures and best practices
  • An ability to exercise confidentiality and discretion when handling employee and business information
  • Problem solving skills including identifying root cause, owning a problem and connecting key personnel when needed
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: Must collaborate and communicate effectively and professionally with stakeholders at every level in a positive, courteous, and respectful manner: treating others with respect and dignity, and aiming toward win/win solutions. Seek to serve rather than be served
  • Computer literacy utilizing Excel and accounting systems at a Senior level
  • An ability to set and achieve time bound goals through prioritization, planning, and asking for help when appropriate, and who thrive in a highly autonomous environment. Must also be thorough, detailoriented, and objective
