Job Summary:


The Financial Analyst & Liaison supports the university with the management of ensuring accurate financial records, and compliance with policies and procedures, and accounting standards.

This position provides the interface between the Financial Services Department and those individuals designated to manage financial activity of units/and or accounts that results in effective financial support and service.

Including data analysis for internal and external reporting.


The position establishes relationships with designated account holders and project managers providing critical thinking and judgement, responding to operational needs, educating them on UFV financial business practices, and assists in developing relevant and useful reports for decision making.


The incumbent tracks important deadlines and reporting dates, monitors account activity, and supports the annual budget development and quarterly forecasting based on available information and estimates.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in business or a related discipline, with an emphasis on accounting.

Minimum three (3) years of progressive experience in a financial environment.

Working knowledge of accounting practices, budgeting, data analysis, reconciliations, and circumstances unique to a unionized post-secondary environment.

Intermediate applied experience with Microsoft Excel, and Access.

Experience in Post-Secondary or Public Sector would be an asset. Experience with Banner preferred.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to prioritize tasks to complete work in an efficient manner.

Ability to effectively convey financial information to those with a non-financial background.
