THE OPPORTUNITY - PAYROLL AND BENEFITS ADMINISTRATOR (F/T)
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- You will be responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of schedules and payroll related services.
- Provide support in processing payroll changes and responding to employee inquiries.
- Produce and process schedules and reports as they are requested.
- Prepare schedule templates as provided by the schedule unit supervisor on a monthly basis.
- Add, cancel or make changes in the organization's schedule as requested by employees and supervisors.
- Review, correct and enter daily time and attendance records though Microsoft Nav system.
- Audit and ensure the correct payment codes are provided for various shifts across different areas of pay.
- Validate and reconcile scheduled hours worked by employees.
- Capture activities accurately. Ensure actual time is reflected for payroll approvals and submissions. Submit validated hours to payroll.
- Entering new hire information
- Provide back up for Payroll and Benefits Specialist, including completing a biweekly payroll in their absence.
- Complete Employment, Immigration and portability letters as requested by employees.
- Maintain, distribute and file payroll and personnel records appropriately. Archive records as per policy.
- Assist with employee benefit enrollments and updates through our benefits provider as well as providing assistance with employee benefit inquiries.
- Assist with various other payroll and HR related reports, paperwork and administrative processes.
WHAT YOU BRING

These are some of the competencies and credentials we are looking for:
- You possess the ability to work in a fastpaced environment with changing priorities, have exceptional time management skills and you perform well under pressure with tight deadlines.
- You demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills with internal and external stakeholders of the organization.
- You have at least 2 years of experience in payroll processing /human resources and a desire to work towards your Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification.
- You have excellent customer service skills and the ability to interact with employees on a daily basis.
- You are tech savvy and comfortable with learning new programs; you are confident using all aspects of Microsoft Office.
- You can demonstrate a solid understanding of best practices in Human Resources and Payroll including Alberta Employment Standards and applicable legislation.
