This role is important because you will be responsible for the management of major complex projects within the Operational Project Management Office.

Working to properly integrate projects and to ensure successful delivery by both internal and external teams.

You will assist Directors in steering projects, and in managing the project triple constraints and risks for major projects such as Service Deliver, Member experience and business systems changes.

  • Distinctive blend of business, IT, financial and communication skills. This blend is vital because this is a highly visible position with substantial impact.
  • Good understanding of current and emerging technologies, and of how other enterprises are using them to drive digital business.
  • Knowledge of project management methodology and experience or familiarity with major, defined program management approaches (for example, that of the Project Management Institute or PRINCE2 and agile approaches).
  • A University or College Degree in business or business information systems and PMP designation or equivalent combination of qualifications. Program manager training and certification desirable.
  • Five or more years of direct project management experience of medium to large complex
    business project/program delivery will be required.

Responsibilities:


  • You will provide strong planning and leadership to help direct a program of special projects and ensure they are delivered on time and on budget
  • In conjunction with the business project leads and internal/external stakeholders you will develop project scope, estimate resources, and execute project plans to deliver on approved scope, budget, and strategy
  • You will develop detailed project plans, milestone charts and dashboard report projects and communicates progress/status
  • You will conduct project risk reviews and maintain a RAID log
  • Act as a coach to junior project managers, executives and others who need assistance and advice regarding project management practices.
  • Establish a work plan and staffing for project activities, iterations or phases, and arrange for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
  • Analyse project proposals to determine a time frame, funding limitations and appropriate processes for accomplishing projects.
  • Review/approve the work plan of an external service provider or consultancy contracted to execute the project.
  • Implement a project communication plan.
  • You will provide team leadership critical to the delivery of projects.
  • Assign duties and responsibilities to project personnel and define the scope of their authority.
  • Review status reports prepared by project personnel and modify schedules or plans as required.
  • You will partner with various business unit leaders and functional experts to foster awareness, understanding and acceptance for program initiatives to build change readiness and momentum.
  • Benchmark project management performance continuously to identify the potential for improvements and increase capability in project and portfolio management.
