We are looking for a talented
Technical Project Manager to join our team specializing in
Engineering for our
New Power Business Segment in
Mississauga, Ontario Canada / your remote home office.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Obtains input and negotiates with program leadership, customers, customer teams, product engineers or technology teams to deliver robust prototype and production designs, technical risk mitigation plans, and coordinated deliverables of new or current product change activity.
  • Other important stakeholders of this role include preferred partner suppliers, manufacturing, purchasing, technical leadership and marketing teams.
  • Makes decisions in the areas of design and project risk tradeoffs that impact program cost or delivery without sacrifice of quality expectations.
  • Main focus will include working in business processes of of Product Preceding Technology (PPT), Value Package Introduction (VPI) or Current Product Support (CPS) and using tools such as Product Development Six Sigma (PDSS), iDFMEA, Voice of the Customer and Voice of Other Stakeholders (VOC/VOX), Integrity, MS Office Suite, New Unique and Difficult (NUD) and project risk 9box and Value Package Introduction
  • Project Portfolio Management (VPI-PPM), all required to support high quality decision making.
  • Provides independent leadership of smaller business impact projects or ownership of complex components, products, systems or services with greater elements of ambiguity over the senior or lead engineer level and with full accountability to the project team.
  • Delivers independent execution of established and emerging work processes and systems, while still developing technology or product knowledge.
  • Leads the development and improvement of work processes and systems across a functional discipline area within a business unit site.
  • Coordinates and directs work amongst technicians and temporary student employees, assists in the transfer of knowledge to lesser experienced engineers through either indirect (scope of influence) or direct management of a small, local group of engineers.
  • Provides support and guidance to influence technical direction within a project team and continues to develop proficiency in the competency areas critical to success in the role.
  • Operates as a recognized specialist in a discipline or product area within the immediate team.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role you will need the following:

Qualifications

  • Ability to lead a team and drive the project to completion.
  • Advanced safety and compliance awareness with functional safety (IEC 61511)exposure an asset.
  • Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making. Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred
  • Ability to manage relationships with key stakeholders involved in projects(including internal and external clients).
  • Ability to adapt to constant change and handle high pressure situations to support the team in meeting project objectives.
  • A high emotional quotient (EQ) that can be applied to motivate teams, increase team efficiency, and aid on conflict resolution.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

  • College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering field is required.
  • Postgraduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

  • Experience in working within the Cummins VPI framework is an asset.
  • 5 years of engineering/technical experience incross functional technical leadership roles including involvement in at leastone product development program.
  • Experience in leadership, program management and administrative processes for amultidiscipline development program.
  • Experience in leading a multi discipline project with a history of delivering safe, quality products on time while achieving the product cost targets in serial production.
  • Multidisciplinary experience in product development activities for different subsystems, understanding their interfaces and interdependencies.
  • Broad knowledge of industry standards in the chemical process industry.
