Surrey Schools is seeking to fill a vacancy in our Learning Resources Services team.


Reporting to the Manager, Learning Resources Services, this position supervises, directs, trains, and coordinates the day-to-day and scheduled work of an assigned team of Library and Information Technologists and other staff in various classifications to ensure efficient delivery of learning and library services to all District sites and staff.


Work is performed under general direction with minimum supervision and considerable independence of judgment and action exercised within established policies and procedures.

This position communicates with all levels of internal district staff and external vendors.

This position oversees, monitors, coordinates and schedules assigned team members attendance, leave, vacation, overtime, and other requests. Checks absence and extra time systems for accuracy, reviews kilometer, leave and expense forms.

Will supervise employees and monitor processes in different department units for workflow optimization and communication.

The Team Leader coordinates and oversees library data management, systems automation and district cataloguing standards.

Develops and maintains vendor relationships including the research and analysis of new products and services.

Oversees all departmental business and supervision in the Manager's absence.


Required education, experience, and skills:

A bachelor's degree in a related field

A Library and Information Technology Diploma from a program recognized by the Canadian Library Association.

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet multiple and competing deadlines as well as respond to time-sensitive emergencies.

Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to create, write, edit and proofread project reports and correspondence on complex topics

Previous Supervisory training or experience an asset.

Minimum three years of related work experience in the public sector or academia.

Previous experience or training in business management and accounting an asset.

Work hours are 8am-4pm, Monday to Friday. 12 month continuing position on-site only.


This is a unionized position that offers an hourly wage rate of $34.12 plus benefits package: municipal pension, health, vacation & sick benefits.

Effective date per collective agreement.
