JOB DESCRIPTION:
Cook

The Cook is responsible for the preparation of high-quality food in a timely, efficient and consistent manner.

The Cook must be prepared to work as a team member in a dynamic workplace and follow all safety procedures.


Job Duties:


Perform food preparation and presentation duties, for all cold/hot items in the kitchen, including washing, chopping, dicing, and carving fruits and vegetables, Follow Menu and all recipes, Ensure the proper use of scales and measurements in all recipes, portioning, and food production, Assist with the preparation and planning for service and serve, Restocks all items as needed throughout shift, Maintain product consistency by regularly conducting inspections of portions, and the presentation of food items, Prepare dishes for patients with food allergies or intolerances, Ensure that cleanliness and hygiene are maintained in the kitchen areas including refrigerators, storerooms, and food preparation and production stations and that food products are rotated to ensure high standards of freshness, Ensure food is stored in appropriate containers and labelled; minimizing waste and maximizing quality, Strive to uphold a safe working environment and be health and safety conscious and actively involved in maintaining and improving a safe work environment, Report any maintenance issues or health and safety incidents, Adhere to all guidelines, policies, rules and regulations, Perform other related duties as required.


Maintain patient contact to "in passing" and not conversational as anything you say or do could trigger a patient negatively.

Meals are an integral part of our Patient's recovery and mental health. Presentation, Quality, Quantity and Consistency are of the utmost importance.


Requirements:

Minimum 5 year of cooking experience required.

Up to date Certified food handler certificate.

Demonstrated knowledge of food quality, production, sanitation and presentation required.

Knowledge of methods and procedures for serving food, principles of sanitation, and principles of safe food handling.

Effective communication skills.

Highly effective teamwork skills.

Attention to detail in all areas of work.

Superior time management skills, multitasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with mínimal supervision.

Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills, work ethic and positive team attitude.
