This role will be working sidebyside with and reporting to Sr. HR Manager as well as supporting our Recruiting Coordinator. We support one another and ensure the team is always on the same page. We report to the VP of Business Operations & Strategy and he is very involved in the daily HR operations.

Responsibilities:


  • Oversight and direct support of systems; HRIS, ATS, LMS, and others;
  • Review and update HR policies and procedures, and best practices;
  • Support the development and execution of HR communications, HR programs, and initiatives (i.e. presentations, howtoguides, staff announcements, lunch n' learns, etc.);
  • Provide HR support and expertise on a range of matters, including internal policies, and provincial/state employment laws for both Canada and the US;
  • Oversee onboarding, HR Orientations, and offboarding procedures;
  • Ensure employee files are maintained and up to date;
  • Familiar with reporting practices (monthly and annual employee reporting, including turnover, vacation balances, employee survey results, etc.);
  • Assists the finance department with information around payroll, benefits, and invoices received for payment of services;
  • Lead administrator of benefits for both Canada and the U.S., including claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, and communicating benefits information to employees;
  • Oversees absence management;
  • Oversee Health and Safety protocol (JHSC, Floor Warden training, documentation, communication, meeting compliance, etc.)
  • Work closely with all levels of management to ensure performance successes and areas of concern are identified and addressed with the proper next steps;
  • Employee support in areas of career growth, personal development, private counsel, etc.
  • Up to date with current business compliance needs in the workplace, that includes health and safety, benefits, payroll, and other local and provincial, and state regulations within Canada and the US;
  • Draft and provide various letters: employment verification letters, offer letters, salary adjustment letters, termination letters, resignation acceptance letters, employment reference letters, travel letters, etc.;
  • Respond to internal and external HRrelated inquiries or requests and provide assistance;
  • Support the recruitment/hiring process by supporting the Recruiting Coordinator with scheduling, assisting in shortlisting, acting as backup during heavy hiring periods and absences, etc.;
  • Schedule and coordinate HR events etc.;
  • Perform 30/60/90day checkins with new hires;
  • Assist in adhoc HR projects, such as the collection of employee feedback;
  • Support other functions as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Degree in Human Resources or related field;
  • Minimum 5 years progressive experience with 2 years as an HR Generalist;
  • Experience creating human resources processes and best practices;
  • Strong ability in using MS Office and Google Suite;
  • Reporting skills you can create spreadsheets and provide analysis;
  • Experience with HR databases and HRIS systems (e.g. BambooHR);
  • Ability to work with ATS software (e.g. Lever);
  • Indepth understanding of sourcing tools, like resume databases and online communities;
  • Familiarity with social media recruiting;
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Great writing skills;
  • Knows how to handle data with confidentiality and care and understands the laws around privacy and security with this data;
  • Great organizational and time management skills;
  • Working knowledge and good interpretation of employment laws and regulations;
  • Comfortable speaking in front of a group of people and with all levels of management;
  • Experience in Benefits Administration.
