JOB OVERVIEW


The Canadian Cancer Society's Camp Goodtimes provides children and youth affected by cancer and their families with an unforgettable overnight summer camp experience in a medically supervised, safe and supportive environment.

We have been committed to providing a camping experience for children affected by cancer since 1985.


The Canadian Cancer Society believes that time spent at camp allows kids to just be kids, away from their diagnosis.

Camp Goodtimes is proud to provide programming that gives joy, confidence, support, and hope for children with cancer and their families.


The Atlantic Camp Program Coordinator is responsible for promoting and managing camper registrations as well as liaising with camp facility partners and medical teams for our programs in Atlantic Canada.

The Camp Goodtimes programs in Atlantic Canada include one week of overnight Kids Camp in NB and NS as well as a weekend Family Camp in NB and NS.

The Atlantic Camp Program Coordinator communicates regularly with parents and guardians in a professional manner. He/She/They ensures that camp facility partners adhere to Camp Goodtimes program philosophy as well as oncology camping guidelines.


This position is great someone who is detail oriented, has strong customer service and is looking to do impactful work.


WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:


  • Coordinates all camper communication for two weeklong Kids Camps and two weekend Family Camps in NB and NS.
  • Establishes relationships with pediatric oncology centers in Atlantic Canada to promote the program.
  • Response to all general inquires for camp programs in Atlantic Canada.
  • Manages camper travel reimbursements.
  • Organizes camper tshirts and camp store.
  • Coordinate with two camp facility partners to collaborate on the program.
  • Liaises with medical teams regarding policy development and camper support.
  • Establishes relationships with Camp Goodtimes families to understand facilitate each participant's camp experience and support their needs.
  • Facilitate oncology camping specific training to facility partner's staff teams before the Camp Goodtimes programs.
  • Be at the camp program for the family camps as well as two days of each of the Kids Camps programs.
  • Work collaboratively with Sr Manager to enhance program.
  • Contribute to our culture of justice, belonging, equity, diversity, and inclusion by ensuring that all staff feel represented and heard regardless of their gender, age, religion, ethnicity, and nationality or race.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • University degree in education, child and youth care, psychology, business, recreation or related discipline.
  • Bilingual in French and English.
  • Previous experience/understanding of camping, youth recreation and or/ experiential education.
  • Excellent organizational skills. Experience with Microsoft Suite as an asset.
  • Excellent relationship building skills.
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Experience in customer service roles.
  • Ability to take initiative, problem solve and work individually.
  • Criminal Record Search including vulnerable sector check (once hired)
