Forklift Operator - Mississauga, Canada - Bison Transport
Description
The Forklift Operator is responsible for performing heavy lifting, selecting orders, inventorying materials and assisting with shipping and receiving. This includes loading and unloading orders.As a Forklift Operator you will work closely with our Warehouse Supervisor, Lead Hand, Shunt Drivers, Carriers, other Forklift Operators, and other Operational Staff to manage the movement of freight through our warehouse.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Perform duties for Bison Transport crossdock (Less than Truckload (LTL))
- Load and unload freight
- Inspect freight during stripping process and crossreference bills to the shipment
- Ensure freight is staged in correct locations as per bills or manifests
- Record discrepancies in freight being unloaded and assist the OS&D Department as required
- Plan drivers on trailers requiring dock service
- Complete manifests and transfer sheets for completed loads
- Endofday reporting to ensure smooth transition between shifts
- Perform and record daily inspection of forklift and other equipment.
- Previous experience in a warehouse environment with LTL and crossdocking
- Must be physically fit with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Knowledge of basic computer systems, including Windows, MS Office Suite, Internet
- Good time management & organizations skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work independently
- Hold a valid forklift license (counter balance, reach standard steering)
- Strong problemsolving abilities
- Works well in an extremely high paced environment
