- Personal reliable vehicle
- CSA approved steel‑toed boots with 6" ankle support

- Drug and alcohol testing (swab-based test)
- Successful completion of company orientation and site‑specific orientation
- Allocate general and daily responsibilities.
- Ensure manpower and resources are adequate.
- Supervise the use of machinery and equipment.
- Oversee, supervise and manage crew, including equipment operators and labourers.
- Drive quality, efficiency and productivity of work crews and ensure the crew has all required tools for their work, including PPE and emergency response measures.
- Assess and confirm, through documentation, crew competence.
- Identify equipment and labour resource requirements for tasks and their utilisation.
- Adhere to project and company environmental considerations.
- Complete daily activity reports and logs.
- Work with project management to schedule and coordinate work tasks.
- Coordinate with other foremen of subcontractors as required on the job site.
- Coordinate with shallow utility locators when on the job site and ensure the crew clearly understands where all buried utilities are.
- Submit progress reports to ensure that the project is on track with deadlines set out in the contract. Must ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with, the principles of the company's Code of Ethics, examining situations in light of the Code of Ethics.
- Participate as a vital team member and provide other technical and administrative support, as required.
- Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
- Conduct daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections.
- Take corrective action to mitigate immediate hazards.
- Conduct incident investigations and prepare associated support documentation immediately.
- Promote, execute and adhere to the company's safety programme, encouraging all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.

- Minimum five (5) years' experience as an underground foreman, civil or earthworks foreman – installations, subdivision servicing, roadway construction and urban renewal projects.
- In‑depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment and OHS guidelines.
- Ability to read drawings, plans and blueprints.
- Excellent organisational and leadership abilities, with the ability to communicate and report effectively.
- Must have extensive knowledge of urban subdivision grading or industrial grading.
- Recognises and understands the safe operation of heavy equipment and material handling.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be a team player.
- Committed to working in a safe and efficient manner.
- A civil engineering technology or construction engineering technology degree/diploma is considered an asset.
- The following training courses would be considered an asset: Leadership for Safety Excellence, Prime Contractor, CSTS‑09, Ground Disturbance Level 2, H2S Awareness and WHMIS.

Sureway Construction is one of Alberta's largest heavy construction contractors, involved in civil earthworks, grading, utilities, mine operation, and aggregate extraction.
Job Type Full Time, Seasonal
Schedule 10+ hours per day, 6 & 1, OT after 8hr/day or 44hr/week
