    GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB :

    QC lab technician will be responsible for conducting the quality control/quality assurance testing to support the Sealants, Roofing, Tapes &Mastics manufacturing department. The individual will be testing incoming and outgoing materials to ensure conformance to both internal and external quality requirements. In addition, they will be responsible for the first level quality approvals to ensure compliance with the Quality Management System on the production floor. This role will interface with production, R&D and Product Line Management, communicating non-conformities or deviations to Process Engineering.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform standard and non-standard testing on raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods using various test equipment including rheometer, viscometer, melt flow tester, scale, and caliper
  • Develop and implement new test methodology, standard performance specifications, and equipment capabilities required to ensure material compliance.
  • Investigate & help diagnose occurrences of non-conforming batch deviations.
  • Troubleshoot & facilitate calibration and preventative maintenance of equipment.
  • Comply with ISO 9001 requirements by participating in the internal or external audits, and support any other plantwide ISO requirements pertaining to the quality
  • Understand & maintain quality expectations, work instructions, and proper documentation records.
  • Train new operators on test procedures, safety requirements, data collection and maintaining test results spreadsheet/database
  • Maintain clean and safe work environment.
  • Prepare quality documentation, test reports and material COA's when required.
  • Actively participate and engage in 5S and lean initiatives. .
  • EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma required, or GED with 2+ years of QC laboratory work experience.
  • College diploma in Science/Engineering preferred. Mechanical and/or chemical handling aptitude.
  • EXPERIENCE:

  • 1-3 years of QC experience working in a chemical manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint) and ERP an asset
  • Ability to address issues, follow up, and implement solutions as required.
  • Proficient, detail-oriented time management & organizational skills
  • Ability to adapt/respond to shifting priorities & project requirements.
  • Experience in statistical analysis & data interpretation preferred.
  • BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION:

  • The annual rate for applicants in this position generally starts at $57,500 and goes up based on experience. This range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications, operations, needs, and other considerations permitted by law.
