The Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Authority of Manitoba (LGCA) regulates the province's liquor, gaming, cannabis, and horse racing industries. We license liquor sales, service and manufacturing, gaming employees, products and operations; retail cannabis stores; and horse racing. We strive to serve the public interest by regulating these industries in a respectful, impartial, and balanced manner.


The LGCA is seeking a highly motivated individual to work within the Information Technology Department, which is part of the Strategic Services and Public Affairs Unit.

The IT department is responsible for providing reliable and secure IT infrastructure, data governance, security, service desk and vendor management within the LGCA.


Qualifications

  • A university degree in computer science, computer engineering or a related field of study and a minimum of five to ten years of experience in Infrastructure management, preferably involving public sector and regulatory functions. A combination of education and experience may also be considered.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with staff, clients and stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail, impartiality and sound judgment, with demonstrated problemsolving, decision
- making and analytical skills.

  • Demonstrated political acumen and respect for others to handle sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to plan, balance and manage multiple work demands and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Experience in maintaining the performance, security and integrity of network, servers and cloud infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, develop and align internal network architecture according to enterprise design standards, business requirements and management objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement short and longterm strategic plans to ensure network, server, and cloud storage capacity meets existing and future requirements.
  • Experience providing functional supervision to other IT team members.
  • Proficiency and relevant certifications in Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure, CCNA, project management and specialized databases [e.g. SQL].

The following qualifications are desired:


  • Experience with backup solutions would be an asset.
  • Proficiency in French.

Duties:


The cloud and infrastructure specialist is responsible for planning, implementing, troubleshooting, and maintaining cloud and on-premises infrastructure and services to support LGCA current and future business requirements.

The position is accountable for advanced analysis and support of integrated systems to ensure they meet reliability, integrity, performance, scalability, and security requirements.

The incumbent also provides technical guidance, direction and team leadership to the Network Administrator and Desktop Support Technician and oversees numerous aspects of their work.
