Specific responsibilities


Reporting to the Commercial Lines Manager - Ontario, the Underwriting Assistant is responsible for completing all commercial property and liability data entry of new business, endorsements and renewals into the GIS system accurately for the branch.

They assists the underwriters by handling renewal underwriting functions such as processing automatic renewals and/or contacting brokers for updated information on renewals as well as by underwriting and processing basic endorsements including contacting brokers for information as required.


The Underwriting Assistant also issues all policy documents within company service standards; 5 days for new business, 10 days for endorsements, 30 days prior to renewal, follows up with brokers for outstanding information as may be required and orders inspections, follows up on outstanding inspections, distributes inspections to the underwriters, prepares recommendation letters, and follows up on recommendation letters as may be required.

Finally, the Underwriting Assistant completes other assigned tasks including policy assembly, policy file management, printing of documents and mapping of new quotes in the GIS system within a timely fashion so that corporate service standards may be met.
