Position Summary:


Key Responsibilities:


Direct Consumer Investment Support:


  • Work alongside and in support of the portfolio companies' management teams while providing regular updates and recommendations to the investment team. This involves the ongoing monitoring of financial and operational progress, opportunities and challenges facing our portfolio companies.
  • Support portfolio companies with adhoc analysis including but not limited to budgeting, product strategy, debt and equity financing, etc.
  • Support the portfolio management process, including financial modeling, performance tracking, industry/precedent tracking, and reporting.
  • Conduct thorough due diligence on potential investment and addon opportunities, market research, financial analysis, and competitive landscape assessments.
  • Assist in the preparation of investment memos, presentations, and other materials for internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare financial models, industry overviews, expected return scenarios, and present findings to senior personnel.
  • Collaborate with team members to evaluate and execute investment transactions, including deal structuring and negotiation.
  • Attend industry conferences and other events to grow consumer investor network and build relationships with 3rd party advisors.

Family Office Investment Support:


  • Assist the CFO and other team members in managing the investment portfolio, including but not limited to, reviewing and evaluating existing managers and investments' performance relative to appropriate benchmarks and provide recommendations as required.
  • Conducting research and preparing reports on various investment topics/sectors/themes.
  • Underwriting new or existing managers for fund investments.
  • Help maintain organized records and documentation related to investments, financials, and other confidential matters.
  • Prepare and undertake additional projects as required or assigned.

Cross-functional Collaboration:


  • Work closely with internal and external colleagues across the organization to facilitate seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Engage with external partners, advisors, and service providers as necessary to support investment activities and family office operations.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, economics, or a related field; Additional qualifications are an asset, including CFA (or enrollment in program) and/or CPA, MBA.
  • 24 years of relevant experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, or a similar role. Consulting and operational experience is also an asset (but not required).
  • Strong analytical skills and financial acumen, with proficiency in financial modeling and valuation techniques.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues, investors, and entrepreneurs.
  • Detailoriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Selfstarter with a proactive mindset and a willingness to take initiative and drive results.
  • Sometimes, we deal with incomplete, ambiguous, or conflicting information. It's important to be able to makes sense and develop a point of view but also be willing to listen and debate the merits of that point of view.
  • Passion for consumerfocused industries and a desire to contribute to the growth and success of innovative companies. Familiarity with CPG, DTC, omnichannel and/or other consumer branded categories is helpful.
  • High level of integrity and discretion, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

Since our family office is led by an entrepreneur, we expect our team to think like an owner and be willing to 'roll up your sleeves' when required to meet objectives.

However, there is a balance between having autonomy and being the CEO of your own role while still working as a team.
