About the Opportunity:


Reporting to the Program Manager, the Ward Assistant contributes to the effective operation of the nursing unit by acting as the central communication person for the unit/program.

The ward assistant performs reception, clerical and administrative duties, following hospital policies/procedures, and discreet handling of confidential matters.

Duties include but are not limited to arranging appointments, faxing consults, prepping laboratory and diagnostic requisitions, answering phones, taking messages, stocking and cleaning rooms and equipment etc.


The Ward Assistant is responsible for the day to day operations of the inpatient unit, some patient care as well as clerical tasks.


About You:

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Grade XII plus one year related experience or one year related program
  • Medical Terminology course preferred
  • Experience using PHS and STAR, Advanced PHS training preferred
  • Computer experience (Windows, MS Office) and typing/keyboarding are required
  • Customer service courses an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Coordination, organization and decision making abilities must be present
  • Ability to function independently and as a member of a team
  • Ability to work in a high volume and high pressure setting
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours:


  • Permanent, Fulltime position; 70 hours biweekly
  • Shifts are scheduled as 12hours shifts, Monday to Sunday, a long week and a short week.

Compensation and Incentives:

$ $21.91 Hourly
