Eaton's ES AMER PCS CA division is currently seeking a Lead Hand - Logistics.


What you'll do:


Primary Function

Reporting to the Materials & Logistics Supervisor, the Lead Hand - Logistics is responsible for providing support and coordination of the shipping and receiving functions, ensuring delivery schedules are met, providing guidance on methods/procedures, and providing coaching and training to logistics personnel.

The Lead Hand will be directly involved with the shipping/receiving/picking process, ensuring the delivery of finished product through to the customer.


Essential Functions/Position Requirements

  • Assist Supervisor with the coordination of manpower requirements on a daytoday and hourtohour basis, reviewing daily Takt requirements, flexing the appropriate staff across the department to maximize productivity/efficiencies. Assign daily departmental tasks and duties.
  • Take daily attendance, logging instances of absenteeism and elevating chronic attendance/punctuality issues to Supervisor for resolution.
  • Provide motivation and encouragement to the team, ensuring that they are continually made aware of all workplace goals surrounding production, safety, and quality.
  • Lead the morning team meetings (safety, quality, daily prioritizes and requirements).
  • Contribute to development and delivery of department performance evaluations.
  • Enforce Eaton/Mississauga Satellite Policies, and elevate performance issues to Supervisor for resolution.
  • Promote quality objectives among one's employees by clarifying quality standards and goals.
  • Examine defective machinery and lift trucks to determine cause of malfunction and report need for machine repairs.
  • Study picking demand and estimate resources required to complete.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems. Escalate to Supervisor if required.
  • Ensure effective material flow from receiving area through warehouse to production team.
  • Manage Picking prioritizes based on production requirements.
  • Provide effective material delivery service to Production workstations on order picks and Kanban replenishment.
  • Ensure cycle counts are done to maintain BOH accuracy and meet company accounting policies by:
  • Providing cycle count list to warehouse personnel.
  • Inputting physical counts, coordinating recounts.
  • Resolve count discrepancies & notify Materials Department on major discrepancies.
  • Prepare and provide support for external inventory audits.
  • Communicate over/short shipments to Materials Department.
  • Follow Returns Process and follow up with appropriate course of action through RMA process.
  • Provide input and recommendations to improve effectiveness of logistics department.
  • Ensure tow motor maintenance and service records are kept uptodate.
  • Ensure rack, lift truck and ladder inspections are completed as required.
  • Coordinate the disposal of scrap inventory.
  • Maintain inventory location changes.
  • Ensure shelves meet safety requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


Basic Qualifications:


  • Grade 12 graduate
  • Experience in Warehouse (23 years).
  • Experience in a fabrication/assembly environment (12 years).

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Lead hand experience (23 years).
  • Experience of Lean Manufacturing implementation and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Postsecondary education or equivalent work experience

Tools / Equipment / Materials:


  • Personal computer software: Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Office and presentation equipment photocopier, fax machine, video projector.
