Position Description:
Temporary Assignment - Approximately 52 weeks
Position Summary:
Under the delegation of a Supervising General Surgery Physician, the role of the Physician Assistant is to coordinate and evaluate patient care for selected patients within the area.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of MOHLTC approved program including the Canadian Forces Physician Assistant Training Program, Graduate of a Canadian or American Physician Assistant Training Program
- Successful completion of the Canadian PA Certificate exam
- BCLS, ACLS certificates required
- Certification by the National Council for Assistants (American trained Physician Assistants only)
- Experience in a General Surgery setting as part of maintenance program strongly preferred
- Experience with shared decisionmaking and leadership techniques
- Interest in surgical conditions and management of them
- Interest in working with learners of varying levels of experience
- Demonstrated expertise in decisionmaking and evidence based practice
- Effective problem solving skills
- Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and development
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Creative and flexible problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative practice model with an interdisciplinary team
- Demonstrated change management skills
Hours of Work:
Rotating Shifts Monday to Friday; Days, Afternoons, Evenings-
