Position Summary:


Under the direction of the Manager, Domestic Recruitment and Entry Advising, the Recruitment Officer ("Officer") is responsible for a range of activities that showcase George Brown College's ("GBC") 200+ programs to diverse prospects.

As a first point of contact for potential students of GBC, the Officer connects and engages with prospective students throughout the prospect to applicant conversion funnel and admission funnel.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Develops and implements recruitment programs and initiatives, including consideration for the prospects experience from prospect to applicant.
  • Supports the college's overall enrolment targets.
  • Develops innovative tactics to identify and attract prospective students from a variety of backgrounds, with a focus on high school prospects.
  • Represents the college at provincewide events: Ontario College Information Program (CIP), Ontario College Dialogues, and degree panels.
  • Organizes schedule(s). Makes travel and accommodation arrangements. Prepares and transports marketing collateral/giveaways/signage. Sets up and tears down displays while using GBC's resources to best advantage.
  • Fosters relationships with high schools across the province.
  • Guides students, teachers, principals, guidance counsellors and parent/guardians on postsecondary and career options.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Educational and Experience Requirements:


  • Threeyear diploma or degree from a recognized postsecondary institution in Marketing, Human Resources, or other related field of education or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid Province of Ontario Class G driver's license.
  • Minimum five (5) years' experience in sales/marketing, public relations, advising or recruiting, preferably in a postsecondary education setting.
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships and engaging/influencing groups and individuals with varying interests.
  • Experience developing, executing, and evaluating recruitment strategies.
  • Familiarity and proficiency working with a variety of college provided tools, software, and digital components.
  • Experience with the delivery and support of medium/largescale events and experience coordinating volunteers during events.
  • Experience with data collection and analysis through databases and/or customer service management tools.
  • Knowledge of the Ontario college system/structure and the Ontario high school system is an asset.

Skills and Attributes:


  • Proven excellent written and oral communication and public speaking skills.
  • Demonstrated presentation skills and the ability to develop and deliver information relevant to diverse audiences.
  • Solid organizational, planning, and time management skills with a high degree of initiative and independence.
  • Ability to work with a flexible schedule to accommodate the college's various events and activities; overnight travel may be required for recruitment events.
  • Ability to lift between 20 kg or 44 lbs (i.e., boxes, marketing/display units, etc.).
  • Demonstrated collaboration, teamwork, and interpersonal skills at a professional level.
  • Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College's priorities on diversity and equity.

Interview process may consist of a practical skills component.
