We are currently looking to hire a:

(2) Chiropodist - PT(17.5 hours/week) - 1 Year Contract

Reporting To:
Primary Care Manager


Purpose:


The Chiropodist will provide specialized foot care for individuals and families living in the Scarborough community who are marginalized or deemed to be at risk in some way.


Key areas of responsibility:


  • Perform assessment, diagnosis, treatment, health education, counseling and other clinical foot care activities according to college standards: surgical care, casting for orthotics, footware assessments, wound management
  • Complete EMR chart documentation requirements; participates in chart audit and peer reviews, clinical case conferences, clinical referrals
  • Participate in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of treatment, education, counseling and health promotion programs and services
  • Participates in group initiatives as required
  • Assist in administrative functions associated with ordering orthotics, supplies and instruments
  • Willingness to preceptor students from academic facilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned that are reasonable within the scope of practice.

Educational and Professional Qualifications:


  • Undergraduate degree from a recognized University
  • Diploma from a recognized school of chiropody
  • Registration and in good standing with the College of Chiropodists of Ontario.

Level of Experience:


  • Three to five years chiropody experience within a community health, hospital, or independent setting
  • Experience caring for diabetes clients is considered an asset
  • Experience in program development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
  • Experience working with electronic health care record; eg. Nightingale On Demand or PS Suite.

Skills and Attributes:


  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, decision making, problem solving, organizational, conflict management and time management skills
  • Oral/written fluency in other languages relevant to providing service in the role would be considered an asset
  • Proficiency working with computers and medical software programs.
  • Ability to work with a multi disciplinary team
  • Sensitivity and awareness of cultural diversity issues
  • Current certification in CPR/First Aid or willingness to become certified.

Significant Working Conditions:


  • Working from different clinic locations
  • Flexibility required to provide extended hours of service based on hours of operation will be required to work evenings and weekend
  • Required attendance at team/staff meetings at different locations.

Remuneration:
$ $38.64
