POSITION:
FTTH Design Specialist
telMAX is building a 100% pure fibre network across underserved communities across Ontario. For the past 2 years, telMAX has built its own fibre optic network. Using the latest technology, the telMAX network is capable of delivering synchronous speeds up to 10 Gbps.

telMAX is based in Stouffville with an additional office hub in Newmarket and offers Fibre Broadband internet, TV, and home phone services.

It proudly employs staff from the communities where it operates and is committed to supporting the local communities they serve.

In June 2022, an independent assessment, by PC Magazine, recognized telMAX as the fastest internet service provider in Canada.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and design fibre routes, conduits, and other design plans (FTTH & FTTx)
QC work of yours and others to ensure accuracy with final drawings.
Work with team to oversee projects from the beginning design phase until completion
Coordinating between Design Techs, project team members, and external partners.
Mentor and train Junior Designers
Liaise with construction crews and other parties to resolve any challenges.
Additional duties as required.

Required Knowledge And Experience:

3+ years of FTTx design experience.
3+ years experience with GIS and AutoCAD
Experience with QGIS specifically is an asset
Understanding of Utility and Telecommunications planning, design and permitting
Postsecondary education in Geographic Information Systems is an asset.
Proficient with the use of computers and software, including MS Office (Word, Teams & Excel).
Excellent verbal, written and communication skills.
Excellent time management skills.
Selfmotivated, ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a team environment.
