The Membership Coordinator plays a crucial role in the day-to-day functions of MOCA's Membership program.

Working with the Marketing Manager and the Visitor Services Manager to ensure the sustainability, functionality, and growth of the museum's membership program.


In this role, the Membership Coordinator will develop strategies and implement projects, programmes, and events aimed at recruiting, retaining, and improving MOCA's Membership program.

They will also utilize the museum's customer relationship management (CRM) platform to support both the membership program and members on a day-to-day basis and be responsible for sales to achieve the membership revenue targets.


Additionally, the Membership Coordinator will work on-site, including during our popular Free Friday Nights and weekends, to directly engage with visitors and members, aiming to increase membership sign-ups and enhance member satisfaction during these peak times.

Hiring Salary Band:
$30,000 to $33,000 (hourly $25.64 to $28.21)

Overall Salary Band:

Key Responsibilities:


  • Support the Marketing Manager in the development and coordination of revenue generation, marketing, evaluation, reporting, and stewardship strategies to strengthen and grow MOCA's membership programmes
  • Oversee the daytoday coordination of the MOCA membership programme
  • Serve as liaison between the museum and its members, answering queries in a timely fashion, providing information on membership levels and associated benefits
  • Update and maintain membership records on a consistent basis, including the CRM database, ensuring privacy and data quality controls
  • Coordinate Membership events with the Development team and Marketing Manager
  • Manage the membership budget and process membershiprelated financial contributions and receipts
  • Undertake detailed tracking of all membershiprelated activity and interactions, supporting the cultivation and identification of donor prospects in the membership program
  • Produce trend reports and projections to support membership growth
  • Collaborate closely with the Visitor Services team to boost membership sales, ensuring seamless communication regarding updates on membership options and benefits
  • Play a key role in empowering the Visitor Services team through comprehensive membership training, aimed at optimizing member engagement and satisfaction
  • Create and disseminate compelling membership cultivation, solicitation, renewal, and stewardship materials
  • Develop strategies to increase memberships through external channels, such as block ticket sales and organizational discounts, enhancing the museum's reach and attractiveness to a broader audience
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Manager to design and implement outreach strategies, aimed at forging partnerships and promoting membership to diverse communities and sectors
  • Identify and pursue innovative opportunities for partnership cultivation, utilizing market insights to engage potential member groups with tailored offers and benefits

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:


Must-haves

  • A minimum of 2 years experience in selling memberships, coordinating membership programmes, and/or annual giving campaigns
  • A minimum of 3 years of sales experience, with a strong track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • A minimum of 3 years of customer service experience, showcasing strong interpersonal and problemsolving skills
  • Proven ability to close deals effectively
  • Conflict resolution and deescalation skills
  • Proven ability to successfully develop, cultivate, solicit, close, and steward memberships and/or donations
  • Outstanding social and relationship management skills
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated interest in contemporary art
  • Familiarity working with budgets and creating financial reports
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience with event planning and coordination
  • Experience with relational databases and/or CRM platforms, such as DonorPerfect and Agile Ticketing Solutions
  • Familiarity or experience with event planning and coordination
