Functions:
- Supervises the safe and efficient operation of the equipment in the bus and maintains a high standard of vehicle maintenance and cleanliness.
- Maintains daily bus log including mileage and other relevant information re: repairs, etc.
- Oversees all vehicle work being performed by outside contractors, ensuring that repairs meet standards set out by the facility and the Ministry of Transportation. Reports promptly to the Department Director/Executive Director about these repairs.
- Participates and assists in the transportation of residents' belongings.
- Maintains inventory control of all products utilized in the vehicle maintenance and housekeeping products.
- Participates in the receiving and storage of wheelchairs, etc. for the trips.
- Acts as a resource person to program staff on the use of vehicle equipment and checks regularly to ensure that this equipment is utilized effectively and maintained satisfactorily.
- Assumes responsibility for the security and cleaning of the bus; checks all locks, doorbells, emergency exits regularly.
- Satisfactorily demonstrates skill, efficiency and diligence in performing all assigned duties with a minimum of supervision.
- Works closely and cooperates with all other departments in order to coordinate the activities to facilitate smooth running of the program and the comfort of the resident.
- Is aware and endeavors to respect and promote the Resident Rights and Responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- Must hold a valid Class C driver's license.
- Ability to read, speak and write English and to follow oral and written direction.
- Training courses or practical experience in equipment maintenance.
- Patience, understanding and ability to perceive and asses the demands and requests of the residents, management and staff.
- Flexible work hours.
