Position Summary


The Field Advisor, Safety position supports the delivery of a safety business plan for the Corefco and Sherritt Fort Site organizations ("Metals") that aligns with the overall Metals strategy.

This involves facilitation towards resolution to safety issues or inquiries, along with providing mentorship and safety coaching to our site.


Accountabilities

  • Provide overall safety mentorship and coaching support for the site
  • Provide daily field safety support to the site, including but not limited to hazard level assessments, project work, safety inspections and interactions.
  • Evaluate, monitor and continually improve safety standards and practices across the site as required.
  • Compile and review safety statistics, Key Performance Indicators, and assist with insight into site and board reporting activities.
  • Recommend consistent incident classifications and complete regulatory reporting within scope.
  • Recommend, develop and maintain standards and procedures that comply with all current inscope regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Lead complex and highseverity incident investigations.
  • Support shutdown activities related to field safety, occupational hygiene and the safety tool crib.
  • Support in safety and performance initiatives for Contractor Management on site.
  • Contribute to optimizing safety performance by embedding best practices, instilling a culture of continuous improvement and lean thinking, implementing technical innovation, and improving management systems.
  • Support development, implementation and monitoring of key performance indicators that support continuous improvement related to safety.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 5+ years of related experience and/or training equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Professional designation in the area of safety (CRSP) is an asset.
  • Experience in energy, minerals or chemical production industry.
  • Experience with regulators, industry standards and other external stakeholders within scope.
  • Strong understanding of safety legislation and practices.
  • Knowledge of process safety and contractor management.
  • Incident investigation training and experience.
  • Experience and knowledge of continuous improvement (OE) practices is considered an asset.
