Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Class 1 Operator is responsible for driving various tractor trailer combinations and delivering equipment and materials throughout the local region.


Responsibilities

  • The safe and efficient transportation of heavy equipment, gravel, and logs to and from various locations, while utilizing multiple tractor trailer configurations
  • Safe loading, unloading and securing of equipment and materials for transportation
  • Perform pretrip inspection and complete necessary paperwork, including accurate logbooks, inspection log book and records of cargo
  • Comply with provincial driving rules and regulations (hours of service, trips inspections, cargo securement, size, weight, route designations, wrapping stations, parking, and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
  • Daily inspection of equipment ensuring the safe function and operation of company assets, with the ability to identify and notify the shop or supervision of any maintenance/repair requirements

Qualifications

  • Valid Class 1 license with 10+ years related experience operating various tractor trailer combinations
  • 5+ years experience in low bedding heavy equipment
  • Full understanding of load securement and transporting of heavy construction machinery
  • Ability to access all sites within Fort McMurray and surrounding regions
  • Must be available to work extended hours and various shifts
  • Clean Drivers Abstract and successful pass a preemployment A&D test
  • Able to work with mínimal supervision in a team and safetyfocused environment
