The Assistant Manager, Family Services is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of Family Services, Youth Services, CCRR, Early Years, Settlement, Seniors, and Community Support programs.


What you'll do

  • Lead, supervise, and direct all staff in collaboration with the Manager, Family Services.
  • Approve schedules, time off requests and timesheets for payroll.
  • Review expense reports from Program Coordinators.
  • Ensure staff training requirements are up to date.
  • Respond to critical incidents, including dispositions and forwarding to applicable management as required.
  • Provide support in the recruitment, selection, coaching, and performance management of program employees.
  • Make recommendations to the Manager, Family Services regarding development, policy and procedure formulation and program evaluation.
  • Liaise with community service providers and other professionals to coordinate service provision.
  • In the absence of Manager, Family Services promotes public awareness of and support for the program by participating in community action tables and committees.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings with various Program Coordinators and Program Manager.
  • Monitor and authorize program expenditures and maintain financial records in accordance to established procedures.
  • As member of management team, assist with the preparation and monitoring of departmental operating budgets.
  • Maintain related records and statistics to prepare reports as required.

What you bring

  • Minimum BA in Human Services in a relevant field of study, plus a minimum of two years' experience in a human service supervisory capacity OR an equivalent combination of education, professional training, and experience.
  • Familiarity with MCFD, IRCC, Fraser Health, and United Way run programs.
  • Knowledge of CARF standards
  • A satisfactory Criminal Record Clearance.
  • A valid Occupational First Aid Level 1 Certificate or willingness to obtain one prior to hire.
  • A valid B.C. Driver's License (Class 5 or Class 7), and a suitable driver's abstract and access to a vehicle.
  • The usual hours of work in this position are based on a 37.5hour work week (Monday-Friday). Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
We offer a competitive salary starting at $68,000, plus a comprehensive benefits plan and Municipal Pension Plan.

This position is excluded from union membership.
