Full-time contract until December 2025, with possibility of permanency.


As Manager, Operational Risk, you will manage and execute to meet SOC2 and ISO Certification for Sun Life businesses to meet obligations to our clients.

Responsibilities include building sustainable processes for new commitments and executing on existing SOC2/ISO work.


What you will do:


  • Build out the SOC2/ISO processes, controls and framework for new Sun Life clients
  • Run and maintain any current SOC2/ISO activities in an effective and efficient manner
  • Provide thought leadership to understand the SOC2/ISO principles, risks, implications to assist businesses to identify the controls
  • Identify and assess the adequacy of evidence that are in place to support controls
  • Facilitate and coordinate activities between external audit and Sun Life
  • Identify and manage issues
  • Manage the activities to deliver all expected information to meet deadlines
  • Maintain strong working relationships with all business, IT, corporate partners and external auditors
  • Prepare reporting and presentations
  • Address process gaps and/or enhance regulatory/operational related processes
  • Streamline processes across SOC2 and ISO initiatives

  • Excellent presentation skills and knowledge of PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and an ability to articulate detailed or complex content to different levels of stakeholders
  • Experience in managing change in a crossfunctional environment
  • Strong partnering and influencing capabilities
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with various levels of leadership
  • Ability to distill complex requirements
  • Ability to work independently, with a strong achievement motivation

  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks at the same time

What you will need to succeed:

  • Minimum 5 years of previous experience with risk management, external or internal audit
  • SOC2/ISO experience would be an asset
  • Background in wealth and/or insurance businesses
  • Familiarity with risk and control assessments
  • University degree or equivalent

Must be able to obtain Reliability Status through the Government of Canada (includes a background check with fingerprinting by the RCMP)
