• Assist biologists in scientific research
• Check registrations and licences of fishing vessels
• Inspect fish catch for size
• Inspect fishing gear and equipment
• Generate public awareness of fish and wildlife conservation and regulation
• Collect and record data
• Assist in conducting field research and surveys to collect data and samples
