EHS COORDINATOR - MINE WATER TREATMENT - Vancouver BC - hybrid


The opportunity


Play a key role in supporting the overall growth of the company by developing, implementing, and maintaining EH&S systems across our operations and project activities.

The role will be our first full time EH&S practitioner in the company and will be relied on to provide leadership in all aspects of EH&S.


  • Develop, implement, and monitor safety systems, processes, and procedures to maintain the highest levels of health, safety, quality, and environmental performance throughout the company (operations, laboratories, projects, and offices)
  • Establish site specific EH&S requirements based on local codes and jurisdictions
  • Proactively conduct strategic assessments of health, safety, compliance, and environmental costs.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory changes in the jurisdictions where the company operates and update all systems accordingly in a timely manner
  • Provide continuous evaluations of trends and best practices
  • Perform hazard analysis and safety audits as required
  • Monitor and report EH&S performance throughout the company
  • Chair the internal EH&S committee
  • Interface and liaise with clients on all aspects of EH&S
  • Organize and oversee staff training including: MSHA, OSHA, First Aid, CPR, WHMIS, H2S Alive, LOTOTO etc.

Qualifications and requirements

  • Proven effective communicator you are articulate and can get your message across clearly both verbally and in written form.
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout the world, mine sites across North and South America, Asia and more.
  • Completion of Occupational Health and Safety Certificate (NSCO).
  • Diploma or current standing as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of EH&S Regulations such as WorkSafe BC and its equivalents in other provinces, Familiarity with regulations in other jurisdictions in which we operate is an asset (OSHA and MSHA).
  • Able to work effectively with people of all levels including management, employees, and contractors.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail. Able to manage multiple priorities and adapt to fast changing situations.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in an efficient and professional matter.
  • Good self starter, ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft basic suite of programs (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Certified Health and Safety Auditor designation is considered asset.
  • Proficiency in Spanish, French or Mandarin is an asset but not a requirement.
