About this Role
Directions Youth Services is a division of Family Services of Greater Vancouver (FSGV), which for more than 90 years has provided a variety of essential resources for children, families and individuals in the Greater Vancouver community.
Our teams strive to create spaces and build connections with youth who are facing challenges of street life, substance use, mental health concerns, and disconnection from their communities.
Directions inclusive programs of shelter and drop-in, safe houses and other unique programs are committed to being a community leader in harm reduction work and fostering low-barrier spaces where all youth are welcome.
Directions is busy and bustling and is looking for a person to help with a variety of administrative tasks at our downtown location.
Do you love organization? Collating filing systems? Laminating materials? Designing posters? Improving spreadsheets through extreme excel tricks? Are you ready to roll up your sleeves to get stuff done? This IN-PERSON volunteer role is extremely meaningful in supporting the backbone of the work that we do in our community.

What you bring:
Responsibilities and Requirements
We need someone who is comfortable with Office Suite programs, is attentive to details, reliable, and flexible. Volunteer time will have some regular tasks and a lot of one-off assignments.
- Collating and organizing paperwork
- Supporting inventory
- Assisting with donations management
- Data management across multiple programs
- Event management support
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Adhere to all program and agency policies, procedures and safety standards; including but not limited to confidentiality policy.
- Comfort spending time among our client group and maintaining a culture of 'People helping people help themselves
- Clerical or Administrative experience
- Excel, graphic design, and adobe suite experience and comfort is an asset
- Applicants with personal experience with addiction or street involvement require a minimum of two years clean/sober and away from services.
Additional Requirements
- Successful completion of criminal record check
- Must be fluent in speaking English
- Successfully complete a course on the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA)
Proof of Covid-19 vaccination status will be required
