LOOKING FOR ALTERNATE CHILDCARE PROVIDER

Lavender Smiles Daycare is looking for an experienced individual who has a passion for making a change in the face of disabilities and childcare.

All of the spaces in our home are held for children with varying behavioral complexities such as Autism, Global Developmental Delay, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and much more.

We are searching for someone who has worked with children and is ready to help support a diverse and inclusive environment for them to play and grow.

Staff will engage children from ages 2 to 15 while actively working on specific goals that adhere to each child's personal care plan.

Staff will be offered occasional shifts between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Staff will be asked to come in when the licensee or assistant is sick or has appointments.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Implementing art and structured activities that offer multiple areas of expression and creativity
• Supervising and assisting in order to protect and promote the wellbeing of each child
• Care for up to 12 children with 2 staff present at any time
• Practice and ensure inclusivity with all activities and roles
• Encourage and involve children with varying abilities and interests
• Build respectful and trusting relationships with children and staff
• Assist children in learning alternative communications such as communication boards, PECS, and sign language
• Maintain strong communication skills with staff and families in order to accurately convey the children's days and activities
• Assist in maintaining a clean workplace by cleaning toys and messes up throughout the day
• Assist in daily care involving toileting, diapering, feeding, and promoting hygiene with all children
• Implement behavior plans and interventions alongside staff and parents
• Communicate and assist children's varying therapists during appointments that occur within the daycare
• Taking children outside in rain, snow and heat (weather permitting)

Applicants must have:

• A clean criminal record and vulnerable sector check
• A current CPR/First Aid certificate
• Training, education or experience working with children who have diverse behavioral needs

• Enthusiastically participate and engage with children of varying conditions and interests
