    We are looking to add an Advisor / Engineer Distribution Optimization Engineering (DOE) to our team

    This role has the overall responsibility for supporting Integrated Resource Planning (IRP) initiatives with regards to DOE accountabilities. This includes supporting the update, maintenance, and accuracy of hydraulic system models for Enbridge Gas Inc (EGI). This role will analyze the EGI system infrastructure requirements under varying conditions including Integrated Resource Planning (IRP) alternatives and requirements.

    What You Will Do

    • Perform IRP Technical Evaluations on EGI projects that pass binary screening in the Asset Management Plan (AMP) using alternative long term scenarios and energy efficiency plans.
    • Support the development of IRP Plans and the analysis of hourly data gathered from control groups and IRPA participants as available.
    • Analyze and forecast the short and long-range distribution system operating and infrastructure requirements under varying conditions for models within the EGI distribution system.
    • Support the Supervisor and Senior Engineer/Advisor in DOE, Capital Development and IRP teams for larger reinforcement projects that require Leave to Construct (LTC) regulatory applications. This includes the preparation of regulatory evidence with regards to IRP alternatives.
    • Responsible for the update, maintenance, and accuracy of hydraulic system models.
    • Identify changes in customer load profiles and assist in incorporating these changes into the load gathering programs and network analysis design standards, thereby ensuring accuracy of the annual simulation and forecast analysis.
    • Examine, design and analyze the effects of various system alterations on system integrity and reliability, and propose new or altered infrastructure or plans, as the needs arise.
    • Provide consultation to other internal groups, such as Operations, Gas Control, Construction, Engineering, Integrity, Sales, IRP, DSM etc.
    • Evaluate impacts to the system when new customer connections or customer growth are identified. Incorporate short term and long-term customer additions targets into the forecast analysis.

    Who You Are

    You will have the following:

    • Proficiency in system hydraulic analysis methods (i.e., Synergi) is required.
    • Related university degree and 4+ years of experience (engineering preferred), OR 6+ years of previous field operations experience. An equivalent mix of formal education and experience may be considered.
    • Detailed knowledge of various computer software programs including Microsoft Suite.
    • Demonstrate effective working relationships with peers and internal/external customers.
    • Project planning and project management skills is an asset.
    • Previous experience in an Oil and Gas Operations and/or Engineering environment is highly desired.
    • Proficiency with GIS, Maximo, SAP, planning and records experience is an asset.
    • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Certified Engineering Technician/Technologist is considered an asset.
    • Certified Engineering Technologist or P. Eng is preferred.

    Working Conditions

    Once trained, this role may require Emergency On-Call support for field forces to respond to system emergencies that may occur anywhere across the entire EGI System. Emergency response is covered on a 24 hour, 7-day rotating schedule as part of the DOE team. The Advisor / Engineer Distribution Optimization Engineering serves as a key contact for field staff and is accountable to provide accurate record information, network analysis, customer information, system isolation information and other distribution planning information during system emergencies.
