    Role:

    Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Project Engineer will be responsible for managing, engineering capital project. Although this position is based in the Kitchener facility where the successful candidate will primarily work on local projects, as part of the Engineering team this position may occasionally be required to assist in other AirBoss facilities across North America based on the needs of the business. The Project Engineer will effectively communicate with all stakeholders involved and own technical projects in manufacturing including execution, creation of solutions, sourcing equipment, managing installations and start-ups. The Project Engineer will use appropriate project management and reporting disciplines throughout the project life cycle.

    Responsibilities:

  • Develop project scope of work and objectives; involving all relevant departments & personnel to ensure technical feasibility.
  • Manage various complex capital projects from concept to completion to commissioning. Ensuring all projects are performed on time, on budget and within project scope.
  • Coordinate between internal resources, vendors, and contractors for flawless project execution.
  • Execution of capital projects utilizing project management methodology for plant operating improvements; and using appropriate change management tools.
  • Supervise field work being performed by contractors and consultants.
  • Shares responsibility for ensuring that an appropriate health and safety program is in place for contractors and service providers and that the program is effective in establishing and maintaining safe working objectives.
  • Prepare Capital packages with all supporting documents, correspondences, comparisons, and cost saving analysis including verifying with the city for additional rebates & paybacks.
  • Assists the Manager, Maintenance and Engineering with development of operating plans and budgets, capital projects, and long-term strategic planning.
  • Create, maintain, and update all existing AutoCAD files related to plant equipment, power distribution and projects.
  • Is a safety advocate; leads by example by complying with all plant Health & Safety policies.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Required Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial, electrical engineering, or automation.
  • Strong project management skills in planning, scheduling, assigning tasks, and budgeting.
  • PMP is considered as an asset.
  • PEO designation is considered an asset.
  • Proven track record of implementing multi-disciplinary capital projects in a multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Excellent negotiating skills, problem solving skills with root cause analysis experience.
  • Strong computer skills including Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCad, and Microsoft Project.
  • Strong written & oral communication skills
  • Travel is required (20% within North America).
