Job Summary


The Market Analyst is responsible for managing the ongoing management of contract and pricing management requirements of the business unit.

The incumbent works in a group environment and is flexible to workload requirements. The role ensures contract management and strategic marketing initiatives.


Main Responsibilities

Tariff and Contract Management

  • Establish market rates for rail movements following CN Pricing process and CN Playbook
  • Work with the Market Managers to ensure pricing data is processed on time to meet deadlines established for publications
  • Review and manage customer contracts, and agreements or renewals for the Sales department
  • Provide guidance to Account Managers and Accounting Representative on customer disputes
  • Assist in completing the Strategic Account Plan for National Customers and Market Strategy Plans for Market Managers.

Research

  • Assess market and modal competition, costs, service requirements and equipment availability
  • Undertake studies related to corridor pricing structure and modal competition
  • Contribute to segment business and pricing strategies
  • Review nature and scope of segment as well as customer requirements

Costing

  • Improve CN's cost structure
  • Assist the Market Manager with the creation of Price Volume Mix Division (PVMD) for major contract renewals

Working Conditions
The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. The incumbent must be is flexible to workload requirements.

Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure and manage stress.


Requirements:


Experience
Marketing

  • Experience in using Tableau and other data analysis tools
  • Previous Experience in transportation, supply chain management, distribution, and logistics
  • Any experience for these above would be considered as an asset

Education/Certification/Designation

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Economics, Business Administration, or equivalent

Competencies

  • Improves processes and enhances Environment, Social and Governance actions
  • Cultivates relationships to proactively support customers' supply chain needs or those that support them
  • Collaborates with key internal stakeholders to enable higher productivity
  • Knows the business and stays current with industry trends to elevate expertise and work

  • Deals with pressure and change by staying calm to quickly adapt to changes
  • Project management skills
  • Fluently bilingual both written and verbal (English, French*)
  • Any competency for these above would be considered as an asset

Technical Skills/Knowledge

  • Financial acumen and ability to forecast and conduct financial analysis
  • Ability to implement new cloudbased systems
