Description
The Laundry Aide is accountable to the Environmental Supervisor to ensure efficient laundry services to meet resident needs.


Background/Qualifications:
Must be able to communicate in English including written documentation. Has an acceptable standard of behaviour and appearance. Must have ability to work with mínimal supervision. Must have ability to follow written routines. Must enjoy working in a long term care environment. Laundry experience in an organizational setting an asset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follows the written job description and job routines as established by the Home.
  • Respects and promotes the Resident Bill of Rights. Respects resident privacy.
  • Collects, transports, sorts, processes and delivers linen and residents= personal linen on a timely basis. Ensures proper use and storage of chemicals in accordance with WHMIS standards.
  • Labels and mends residents' personal clothing, ensuring residents' dignity.
  • Maintains a clean, sanitary environment.
  • Participates in the facility Infection Control Program.
  • Identifies residents= need for clothing purchase or repair as applicable.
  • Operates machinery and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Reports the need for additional or replacement linen when required.
  • Understands all aspects of Health and Safety. Reports any hazard or hazardous situation according to established health and safety policy and procedures.
  • Ensures that all actions are resident focused. Adapts the laundry schedule to meet the needs of residents. Participates in the homewide Quality Management Program.
  • Assists residents during mealtimes. This includes, but is not limited to, setup, prompting, assisting with feeding the resident, portering and meal supervision.
  • Porter residents throughout the home, as needed.
  • Assist in required duties in the Housekeeping department to meet the homes needs as required.
  • Assist with resident lifts, transfers and bed entrapment.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
