- Review manufactured products to ensure optimum formulation, throughput, and quality.
- Identify Safety Improvements through At Risk Conditions
- Identify all products capable of utilizing gravimetric feeders to minimize handling and increase throughput.
- Reduce components of compounds and master batches where possible to minimize preblending and SKU's.
- Provide the Production Department with set conditions for new products prior to being released to operators.
- Maintain Process set conditions and update manuals on a regular basis to ensure only current
- Ensure Production Department compliance with ISO 2015 Standards
- Prepare SWOT analysis for Production Department and update quarterly.
- Maintain CPM and identify trends, positive or negative. Identify potential corrective action as required.
- Create Team and organize process trials and report findings and recommendations to Plant Manager
- Work with Maintenance Department and Operations to optimize extruder configurations by product group.
- Work with the Technical Manager to attain new business through trials and resolve process issues.
- Recommend equipment additions or upgrades to improve quality and/or throughput.
- Collect daily plant performance results and update Plant Production Scoreboard and Extrusion Line Results Scoreboards
- Using Visual/Lean Daily Management to identify gaps and through Continuous Improvement activities develop action plans to improve performance.
- Develop and maintain standard work documents for plant production tasks.
- Relevant degree from a recognized university preferably in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Chemical Engineering
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) Certification is considered a definite asset
- Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt experience is considered a definite asset
- 5 years experience formulating and compounding polyolefin-based compounds or master batches or with plastics/polymers
- Extensive knowledge of the configuration and operation of co-rotating twin screw extruders and other auxiliary equipment (feed systems and pelletizers)
- Supervisory experience in a production environment
- Communicate with clarity in all situations including written, verbal and team settings
- Experience using Microsoft Office, including the ability to create reports, documents, presentations, pivot tables and spreadsheets in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
