As part of Holland Bloorview, you will be contributing to fulfill the strategic plan and priorities of the organization, which include creating the most meaningful and healthy futures for all children, youth, and families.

This will be achieved in an academic health sciences centre, specifically focused on evolving client-centred quality, safety and excellence, care/leading practices, research, teaching, and collaborative teams in pediatric rehabilitation.


SUMMARY


The Nursing Vision and Strategy Lead is responsible to assist the Chief Nursing Executive (CNE) and in partnership with Program and Services Leadership and CPL - Nursing in continuing to grow, enable and implement the vision and strategic direction for nursing and nursing practice in the collaborative inter-professional context at Holland Bloorview.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Direction and Leadership

  • Support the CNE to lead, plan, implement, evaluate and sustain strategic initiatives that contribute to the highest quality of nursing professional practice
  • Support the CNE in HHR planning and strategy that is evidence informed in alignment with local, national and global changes taking into consideration evidence, nursing market changes and national/international trends to ensure HHR success e.g., attraction, retention, career pathways, succession planning, performance management, nursing resource team, and clinical leadership development
  • Review and adopt data in alignment with information sources like the dashboard to inform operational decision making and establishment of annual performance measures/metrics
  • Support the CNE to sustain high performing interprofessional teams and advancing practice of nursing through specialization, career laddering, mentorship
  • Support the CNE diversifying the nursing profession at the point of care and in leadership roles to better reflect the diversity of the client/families
  • Lead the design and implementation of various nursing activities throughout the year, including the DAISY awards for nursing, Nursing Week, Speaker engagements, etc.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education/Experience:

  • Master degree in nursing or in a related health care field or currently pursuing
  • Valid registration and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Canadian Nurses Association Certification in a related care specialty preferred
  • Leadership training preferred (e.g., Certified Health Executive (CHE), Advanced Practice leadership, or Quality background)
  • Previous clinical experience in paediatric nursing
  • Experience in strategic thinking, planning and clinical operations is an asset to provide support and insight into organizational and operational opportunities, changes & challenges
  • Data and problemsolving aptitude, strong communication, writing skills and organizational abilities
  • History of leadership skills to proactively monitor and analyze industry trends and nursing market changes
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in leadership/management role within a health care organization or academic setting
  • Advanced computer skills, data analytics and medical terminology
  • Eligibility for cross appointment with an academic institution
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and legislation (e.g., Public Hospital Acts, Nursing Act, Regulated Health Professions Act, etc.)
  • Knowledge and understanding of the healthcare system and the health professions education/academic system
