- Managing shipment costs, ensuring optimal rates, maximum load utilization, and seizing rail opportunities.
- Contributing to short and long-term corporate logistics strategy development.
- Negotiating annual freight rates to minimize increases and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Supervising inbound shipments and GHG reduction initiatives, including bi-annual reporting.
- Maintaining ERP transportation modules, incorporating rates from carriers for new business lanes.
- Managing logistics projects, including international logistics.
- Addressing customs clearance issues and report discrepancies to customs broker.
- Developing and overseeing logistics procedures, implementing new ones as needed.
- Supervising and training employees.
- Supporting department and corporate freight budgeting, reviewing variances.
- Maintaining Certificates of Origin, HS codes, and customs broker services.
- Overseeing freight invoicing and developing standard operating procedures for supply chain.
- Generating bi-weekly, monthly, and quarterly savings reports.
- Post secondary education or equivalent experience gained from a logistics background.
- Previous experience in a supervisory role.
- Previous experience in logistics in a manufacturing setting is preferred.
- Effective interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task effectively.
- Forward-thinking mindset with the ability to anticipate and adapt to changes in the logistics landscape.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
