Controller - Construction and Real Estate
Job Summary:
As a Controller working for our client you will be a key financial leader responsible for overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, and strategic financial planning within our organization.
Your expertise will play a critical role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial management processes.Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to industry standards.
- Conduct regular financial analyses to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks, providing strategic insights to support decisionmaking.
- Oversee all aspects of accounting operations, including general ledger management, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and cost accounting.
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with department heads, providing guidance and analysis to establish realistic financial targets.
- Develop rolling forecasts and financial models to support business planning and decisionmaking.
- Ensure compliance with industryspecific regulations, tax laws, and accounting standards, staying abreast of changes and implementing necessary adjustments.
- Mitigate financial risks by identifying areas of concern and implementing strategies to address them proactively.
- Collaborate with project managers to track project costs, analyze variances, and ensure accurate cost allocations.
- Implement cost control measures and evaluate project profitability to optimize financial performance.
- Evaluate and optimize financial systems and tools to streamline processes, enhance accuracy, and improve efficiency in reporting and analysis.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and professional growth.
- Collaborate crossfunctionally with various departments to facilitate cohesive financial strategies and initiatives
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated expertise in financial management, accounting, and auditing within the construction or real estate sector, showcasing a track record of implementing best practices and driving financial success.
- Extensive knowledge of construction accounting principles, real estate financial analysis, and regulatory compliance, enabling effective decisionmaking and risk management in this specialized field.
- Proficiency in industryrelevant accounting software and ERP systems, coupled with advanced Excel skills, empowering efficient financial reporting, analysis, and strategic planning.
- A history of providing strategic financial guidance and direction, leveraging datadriven insights to inform critical business decisions and foster sustainable growth.
- Strong leadership abilities demonstrated through successful team management, fostering a culture of collaboration, mentorship, and professional growth within the finance department.
- Exceptional analytical and problemsolving skills, enabling the interpretation of complex financial data to drive operational efficiency, cost control, and profitability.
