We are actively seeking an experienced full-time
Environmental Coordinator to join our team in Calgary.

Reporting to the Team Lead, Environment and Regulatory, the Environmental Coordinator will support the organization by managing and maintaining select regulatory systems and functions for Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan oil and gas operations and supporting the Environmental and Regulatory (ER) team within HSER.


Essential Functions:


  • Manage, coordinate, and train/educate Strathcona personnel on proper waste handling, educate operations that generate waste on the electronic manifesting platform, manage the electronic platform, troubleshoot and conduct associated reporting.
  • Support operations, drilling & completions, construction to proactively manage water licensing and use. Track both temporary and permanent licenses. Ensure compliance items and regulatory reporting associated with licenses are completed.
  • Support water license renewals and permit amendments.
  • Support the implementation and ongoing use of a regulatory management system to enhance environmental and regulatory compliance and tracking.
  • Support development and adoption of corporate governance documentation, policies, and best management practices/procedures to improve overall performance of the organization.
  • Monitor regulations for updates, summarize key changes for evaluation of implications and communications out to the organization.
  • Manage regulatory correspondence received through regulatory platforms (Kermit, AER OneStop/DDS and IRIS). Triage compliance requests and conduct follow up reporting where required.
  • Track regulatory inspections as part of performance reporting ensuring compliance.
  • Support the development of a document management process and assist in the ongoing maintenance. File consolidation and organization.
  • Track ER metrics to support completion environment stewardship reports, including providing input into Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and Environment, Social, Governance (ESG) reporting.
  • Support air emission data management, organization, reporting and tracking.
  • Support budget development and maintenance.
  • Support document and presentation development and publishing.

Qualifications Include:


  • Skills and Knowledge:_
  • Familiar with regulatory and environmental requirements for conventional oil & gas, enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and thermal insitu requirements for Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan projects.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills with across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience working with waste management and compliance software, regulatory portals/platforms and oil and gas tracking systems such as Petrinex.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Proven collaboration and positive relationship building skills.
  • Ability to adapt in a facepaced, everchanging environment.

Work Environment:


  • Based at our Calgary office (TD Canada Trust Tower).
