KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Cooks according to planned meals/menu, an appetizing meal presentation in accordance with Canada's Food Standards and Lakeside Gardens individual resident needs.
  • Responsible for purchasing of Food and supplies for Dietary department as per established company procedures, in the absence of the Executive Chef and assists in inventory control and appropriate storage.
  • Assists in supervision of Food Service staff and ensures that dress code and standards meet Company & Lakeside Gardens standards.
  • Ensures that staff adhere to job duty guides that food production meets department standards and service to residents is of quality. Ensures Food Safe Standards are met.
  • Shares responsibility, through in-service and education, in safety standards and occupational health, hygiene, infection control and pest control and the Continuous Quality Improvement of the residence. Performs other staff development as required.
  • Assists the Executive Chef with menu planning and inventory control.
  • Ensures quality control of meals and or snacks
  • Liaison with other departments as to special requirements
  • Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the food preparation area and kitchen equipment - inclusive of preventative maintenance.
  • Performs other related duties as delegated by the Executive Chef
  • Committed to excellence.
  • Maintains a team approach by attending and participating in the regular monthly department meetings.
  • Actively participates in Continuous Quality Improvement program.

HOURS OF WORK:
Saturday, Sunday, Monday - 11:00am-7:00pm; Tuesday - 06:15am-2:15pm; Wednesday-Friday off


ACCOUNTABILITY & OBJECTIVE:


  • Under the direction of the Executive Chef, prepares and serves attractive and nutritious meals and snacks, assists in supervision of dietary personnel and ensures the kitchen area is kept clean and sanitary.
  • Maintains all Food Safe / Serve it Right standards are achieved.
  • Ascertains all nutritional and special diet requirements are met.
  • Provides support to all departments.

BACKGROUND / QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Current Criminal Record Check.
  • A Certified Chef from an accredited school.
  • Valid Food Safe
  • A minimum of two years experience preferred in volume food preparation in hospitality industry.
  • Proven ability to offer outstanding public relations with residents, potential clients, staff and all visitors.
  • A person with a positive selfprojection
  • A peopleperson with a heart for seniors and a positive, outgoing disposition. Ability to work independently with a commitment to achieve deadlines.

Job Types:
Part-time, Permanent

Part-time hours: 30 per week


Salary:
$20.13-$24.05 per hour
