    Description

    Under the direction of the Accounting Supervisor II, the Accountant I administers assigned grant awards, supports Principal Investigators and researchers, and responds to inquiries from internal and external auditors and federal and local agencies concerning grant award information.

    Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Auditing or related area and one (1) year of accounting experience.
    Skill in accounting.
    Ability to use a personal computer.
    Ability to use Excel and other computer based applications (Word processing, Spreadsheets and Databases).
    Ability to create and maintain grants and contracts files. Must be able to travel for meetings, conferences, and training.

    Maintains and monitors federal and local grants assigned by Accounting Supervisor.

    Ensures grants are accounted for in compliance with University policy, federal and local government regulations and circulars, and sponsor-specific terms and conditions.

    Maintains a project file with all associated backup documentation for each assigned grant.
