Role Summary:


The Quality Assurance Supervisor facilitates the effectiveness of the Quality Department in meeting its objectives by providing guidance, instruction, leadership and motivation to Quality staff on daily activities, tasks, assignments and issues which arise.

The role performs regular review of Quality policies and procedures and implements any changes and is actively involved in research and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.

This role ensures internal quality systems are maintained via auditing, procedure writing and corrective actions.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Supervise the Quality Assurance department in its daily objectives, activities, tasks, assignments and address any issues as they arise
  • Review and disposition nonconformance reports
  • Support customer and internal corrective action investigations
  • Oversee daily quality and weld quality auditors' priorities and performance
  • Provide training to team members as required
  • Ensure daily review of shop floor activities and provide support to quality team
  • Ensure testing equipment is maintained per OEM guidelines
  • Allocate/schedule resources appropriately to complete quality work orders on time
  • Review and approve timesheets as part of weekly payroll process
  • Perform tasks and reporting as outlined in the Business Operating Process of the Quality Assurance Supervisor
  • Participate in MPS workshops/kaizens and encourage continuous improvement with team
  • Support and lead quality assurance MAFACT activities as required
  • Provide regular feedback and conduct performance reviews for all direct reports
  • Ensure a positive and supportive approach when dealing with unexpected issues
  • Schedule and communicate overtime support in a timely manner as per OT policy
  • Hold the team accountable to meet quality standards and achieve assigned quality performance measures and work to identify opportunities for systemic improvements
  • Lead the team and participate in layered process audits (Fast track resolution)
  • Travel to customer and supplier locations as required
  • Maintain confidentiality when dealing with customers, suppliers and internal processes
  • Maintain a safe work environment/practices according to the regulations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Adhere to all IATF 16949 policies and procedures
  • Must comply with all ISO Environmental) and OHSAS Health and Safety) systems and standards as it pertains to their work
  • Other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager

Key Qualifications/Requirements:


  • 35 years Supervisory experience preferred
  • 5 years quality experience in the automotive industry
  • Certified Quality Engineer and/or Post
  • Secondary Degree
  • Sound knowledge of IATF 16949 Quality Standard
  • Effective communication skills (oral and written)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a teamoriented approach
  • Strong critical thinking and problemsolving skills
  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Minitab and ISO Quest
  • Proven organizational skills in a fast paced and demanding environment
  • Experience working with new program launches and Advanced Product Quality Planning
  • Strong working knowledge of PSO, Run at Rate
  • Effective implementation of PFMEA and Control Plan
  • Experience conducting Layered Process Audits (Fast Track Resolution)
