What Are We About?:

The Human Resources (HR) Officer is an integral part of the Employee and Labour Relations team,


supporting HR Consultants, the Labour Relations Consultant, and the Director in providing a full range of HR and labour relations support throughout the employee life cycle to client groups across the College.

The HR Officer role also supports other functional areas including Learning & Development, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, Organization Development, and Total Rewards.


As the HR Officer you will play a lead role in records and file management, security of confidential information, creating job offer packages, transfer and promotion records, entering new data and changes properly into the HRIS within payroll deadlines, auditing HRIS entries, running queries, on/off-boarding of employees, ensuring job postings are managed effectively and compliantly, managing professional development/continuing education/and other Learning & Development processes and forms, answering routine inquiries up to and including intermediate complexity, supporting HR and LR processes, which could include taking notes, creating and managing performance improvement/management documents, research for grievance meetings, supporting investigations.

Additionally, you will complete special projects, as assigned.

This position has been designated as hybrid/partially remote and is expected on-site 50% of the time.

What We Are Looking For:


  • A diploma/degree in a related discipline (such as Human Resources or Business)
  • A minimum of 5 years' recent and relevant work experience in Human Resources; preferably within the postsecondary environment or other large, complex organization;
  • A professional Human Resources designation such as CHRP or CHRL is preferred;
  • Welldeveloped analytical and research skills with the ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines;
  • Ability to establish respectful working relationships across all groups and with diverse stakeholders;
  • Demonstrated passion for client service, operational excellence and continuous improvement;
  • Exceptional communication skills (oral and writing);
  • A project management mindset;
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with ability to deal with confidential and sensitive issues in a professional and caring manner;
  • Knowledge of HR policies and practices with a demonstrated interest in keeping current with employment law and regulations;
  • Excellent planning skills and demonstrated expertise in innovative problemsolving;
  • Superior tact, diplomacy and sound judgement;
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate effectively; and
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.
