Health and Safety Coordinator
(Permanent Full Time) 7/7 rotation, 12 hour work days


Work Site
Envirogreen Technologies Ltd. Contaminated Waste Treatment Facility is located approximately 20
kilometres southwest of Princeton, BC.


About Envirogreen Technologies
Envirogreen Technologies Ltd. (ETL) is an established waste management company, leading the way
in the treatment of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes. Our permitted hazardous waste
treatment facility located outside of Princeton, BC, utilizes thermal desorption technology to treat a
wide range of industrial waste and contaminated soil.


The Opportunity
ETL is looking for a Health and Safety Coordinator to join our team. The Health and Safety
Coordinator works under the direction of the Health and Safety Manager and works with Supervisors
and other employees within the company to ensure policies, safe work practices, safe work
procedures, and regulations are adhered.


The job duties include:

  • Active involvement in department morning toolbox talks
  • Participation in JOSH Committee meetings as a guest member
  • Monitoring Personal Protective Equipment program for compliance
  • Plant safety observations, reporting unsafe behaviors, coaching workers
  • Field Assessments, example; are respirators being worn, if a welder is welding are welding
blinds being used, is the appropriate hot work permit issued and readily available, is a
portable fire extinguisher on hand, is a mandatory fire watch period after last spark

  • Discussions with equipment operators, verifying wither or not preuse inspection checklists
are completed and wither deficiencies noted are remedied appropriately

  • Discussions with mechanics and or millwrights working on equipment, is that piece of
equipment you are working on locked out

  • Assist in planning for outages, subcontractor safety management plans, verify contractor
orientations are complete, verify lock-out tag outs are accurate and being followed, ensure
CS entry permits are issued for appropriate spaces, ensure entrants have valid CS Entry and
monitor training, ensure there are trained CS monitors active at the space, verify AQ gas
monitoring devices are being used

  • Work with plant supervisors to suggest trainings needed, and work with appropriate training
scheduler to schedule the trainings

  • Developing a CS rescue practice schedule and ensuring mock rescues are being performed at
regular scheduled intervals

  • Daily reports to include: head count, department toolbox meeting notes, site observations,
positive/negative feedback, recommendations

  • Work with maintenance to gather manufacturer recommendations on equipment and
vehicle maintenance needs, and recommended maintenance intervals. Create preventative
maintenance program to include maintenance needs and schedule, ensure compliance is
being met

  • Be the direct line of communication while HSE Management is not onsite, work alongside
HSE Management to help foster a positive culture in-regards to OH&S at a plant level

  • Liaise with WorkSafeBC officers of the board in Safety Managers absence or if they arrive
unexpectedly

  • Report first aids and incidents when they arise
  • Conduct and submit preliminary incident investigation reports so that full investigation
- reports can be conducted
  • Review Incident investigation reports in JOSH meetings with members
  • Have JOSH committee members join you in workplace inspections
  • Be a site liaison for third party instructors, consultants, and visitors

Requirements:


  • High school or equivalent diploma.
  • A diploma in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field is

- preferred
  • CSO/NCSO preferred
  • Minimum 3 years experience in construction or other industrial setting
  • Valid drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English, including professional communication skills.
  • Approachable, considerate, respectful, good listening skills, and collaborative.
  • Energetic, selfmotivated, creative, and a positive outlook.
  • Willing to work in all weather conditions.

Training Required:


  • Occupational First Aid Level 2/3
  • Mental Health First Aid
  • Occupational Health and Safety for Supervisors (or equivalent).
  • Confined Space Entry/Attendant and Operations (Rescue).

Work Conditions:

  • High dust levels respiratory protection may be required
