Temporary Full-time for approximately seven (7) months

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • As part of the Nursing Professional Practice Department, the Health Human Resources (HHR)
Program Coordinator is responsible for the successful implementation of the HHR Programs including:
The Clinical Scholar Program, Nursing Graduate Guarantee (NGG) Program, Enhanced Extern Program, the Supervised Practice Experience Partnership (SPEP) program for Internationally Educated Nurses (IEN), and Cooperative Education High School Placements across multiple units of the hospital

  • Supporting and the HHR program participants in their practice and integration onto their units in accordance with Nursing and Allied Health professional standards, QCH policies, and in collaboration with the clinical teams
  • Reporting to the Manager of Nursing Professional Practice, the incumbent provides supervision to the HHR Program participants and supports with hiring, onboarding, professional development, coaching, mentoring and managing of performance as required
  • Working with clinical stakeholders to coordinate and provide ongoing support to the HHR Programs, including planning schedules, education, and integration
  • Providing administrative and operational support in addition to coordinating of efficient daily operations of the HHR programs at QCH
  • Supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of special projects within the HHR Programs
  • Serves as a liaison and conduit between the Ministry of Health, clinical leaders, educational organizations and HHR Program participants.
  • Promotes and communicates safety objectives; takes remedial action to solve safety issues with a focus on hazard and risk elimination in support of prevention
  • Ensures all required Ministry of Health documents, approvals and progress reports are secured for the successful implementation and ongoing administration of the programs
  • Other duties as required

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Baccalaureate in Nursing or Baccalaureate in an Allied Health Profession
  • Current certificate of Registration with Professional College
  • 5 years of recent clinical experience in medicine, surgery, rehabilitation, critical care, perioperative, emergency or childbirth nursing
  • Current BCLS certification
  • Demonstrated strong clinical skills and competencies that will support the growth of the HHR Programs.
  • Demonstrated excellence in effective communication and interpersonal skills within a professional environment and ability to work both independently with mínimal supervision and within a team
  • Demonstrated leadership, change management and problem solving
  • Demonstrated ability to work on own initiative, develop and initiate systems that create efficient workflow, establish priorities, and meet deadlines effectively
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
  • Experience with data collection, report writing, and submission of reports to the Ministry of Health
  • Computer skills in a Windows environment including Outlook, Microsoft Office and Meditech
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fastpaced environment

PREFERRED:


  • Master's Degree (or in progress)
  • Membership in Professional Association related to professional designation
  • Completion of a preceptorship workshop
  • 2 years clinical teaching experience
  • Leadership, Facilitation and Conflict Resolution Courses
  • Membership in Specialty related Professional Association
