About the opportunity:


Under the direction of the Regional Human Resources Manager provides a service to the various functional groups within the designated site by implementing human resources strategies, policies and programs in accordance with corporate objectives.


The attributes we are looking for:

  • Provide guidance to site managers related to recruitment and selection, performance management, employee/labour relations, health and safety, and compensation and benefits.
  • Provide recruitment services at the site by sourcing, screening, interviewing and referring applicants to management for further interviews and conducting background screening as required. May be required to conduct exit interviews with departing employees.
  • Supports the Regional Human Resources Manager in the negotiation activities for the site by researching, collecting, and comparing appropriate data (competitors' data, historical data etc.) as well as liaise as required with local leadership team.
  • Provide guidance to the local management team on the interpretation and administration of the Collective Agreement(s).
  • Administer HR programs and process employeerelated transactions such as new hires documentation, new employee orientation, status changes, etc.
  • Administer the performance management program, deliver training as required and support site leaders as necessary.
  • Administer disability management programs (STD, LTD, WSIB/WCB/CSST) by liaising with employees, line managers, insurance companies and/or government bodies to facilitate return to work opportunities.
  • Implement health and safety initiatives at the site (i.e. compile/gather health & safety data, implement training programs and health and safety action plans, and generate site reports).
  • Implement training initiatives as required.

What you will bring:


  • University Degree preferably in Human Resources, Industrial Relations or Business
  • Minimum three (3) years experience in a Human Resources Generalist role preferably in a manufacturing unionized environment
  • CHRP designation preferred
  • Ability to work in an environment that is fastpaced and requires ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Excellent communication skills, customer service orientation and ability to build strong working relationships with all stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills and an eye for details are essential
  • Proficient with standard office computer technology such as Lotus Notes, Microsoft Office products and the Internet
