Responsibilities:
- Compliance with Hatfield's Health and Safety Management Plan, the law, and client health and safety protocols.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to collect data to assess potential projectrelated impacts on environmental resources and values. This will include providing support for a variety of environmental monitoring and assessment programs in aquatic and terrestrial environments (e.g., water quality and aquatic ecology, fish and fish habitat, hydrology, hydrogeology, wildlife, and construction monitoring).
- Participate in environmental field investigation and monitoring programs under the supervision of experienced Hatfield staff.
- Ensure equipment is maintained and calibrated to meet operational and field requirements.
- Support ongoing data management and reporting functions.
Education and Experience:
- Pursuing a technical diploma, B.Sc., or M.Sc. in the environmental sciences. Some prior formal training (e.g., coursework) in environmental science is considered an asset.
- Experience related to environmental fieldwork and data collection is desirable but not required.
Other Assets/Skills:
- The ability to drive a 1⁄2 ton truck.
- A valid Canadian driver's license, as well as and meet the requirements for our thirdparty automobile insurance coverage.
- Comfortable using equipment and technology with a desire to learn how to operate a variety of environmental monitoring systems such as water quality meters, dataloggers, and software packages.
- Ability to work in teams of technicians with varying levels of experience and maintain a positive attitude.
- Ability and interest to undertake extensive fieldwork, in a range of weather conditions, including working in remote locations and on programs that may require camp stays over multiple days.
- Ability to work in a dynamic consulting environment that requires flexibility and the willingness to work overtime in support of field programs.
- Good communication
- Attention to detail and an understanding of the importance of adherence to field standard operating procedures and good data collection.
